VERDICT

It’s hard to find a roaster that can provide the options that Nesco provides with the 481825PR, making it one of the best roaster ovens available on the market. Comparable models can be more difficult to clean and maintain. Power efficiency is hard for other competitors to match. The design and capacity allow for innumerable options when it comes to what meals can be created on any countertop. Adding this roaster to the tools already in any kitchen helps with the need for an extra cooking surface, or works great to replace some of the methods that might already be in use. When it comes to choosing the best 18 quart roaster on the market, the decision is clear, it has to be the Nesco 481825PR.

When it comes to preparing food, there are many options for what process and tools can be used to cook, roast, slow cook, steam and bake to make meals. One of the biggest problems with those tools is a lack of multiple functions. Being able to handle more than one cooking method with one appliance gives it more value. One of the best tools on the market to handle those tasks, while being more efficient, are countertop roasters. Roasters are often seen at holiday events, handling the turkey or batches of chili, making it easier to get everything done on time.

The Nesco 481825PR Professional Roaster

One of the best roasters on the market today is Nesco’s 481825PR Professional Roaster. This roaster is an 18 quart capacity model, with a body and lid made of stainless steel. The cooking well is made of porcelain, which is removable for easy cleanup. Heating temperatures are adjustable from 200 degrees to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It runs on 1425 watts of power and has an indicator light to show when the selected temperature has been reached.

Why Nesco?

The manufacturing companies that make similar roasters are highly varied, and there is a lot of competition in the market. Nesco stands out because of the company history and the high level of customer satisfaction ratings. When Nesco started producing roasters in 1932 the brand soon became synonymous with the product.

Along with the long track records of the brand, this model stands out because it uses what Nesco has patented as “The Circle of Heat,” to cook and warm whatever is placed inside. Rather than the device applying heat from the bottom of the cooking well, heat is applied from the sides. This method ensures the contents are heated evenly throughout the cooking process. This method also has the added benefit of reducing energy needs, conserving energy compared to conventional ovens and other roasters.

Tale of the Tape: Comparing the Nesco 481825PR to Other Options

Portability

It’s rare when so much can be done with this Nesco model while also being portable. When comparing this roaster to a conventional oven, it’s clear that the added portability allows for more varied applications.

Affordability

The cost of this roaster can fit into any budget, especially when the size of the cooking capacity is taken into consideration, and the cost can be more economical than choosing a smaller size. This roaster is able to fit all of the following:

  • 9 x 9 Cake Pan
  • 9 x 13 Baking Pan
  • Two 9 x 5 Loaf Pans
  • 6 or 12 cup Bundt Pans
  • 6 cup Muffin Pan
  • 9 inch Pie Pan
  • 10 cup Angel Food Pan
  • Up to 2 quart Casserole Dish

Versatility

Considering that the roaster is capable of roasting, baking, steaming, slow cooking and simply warming food, it makes using any of the above items easy and efficient. While this roaster is capable of handling commercial level applications, it fits well in any kitchen environment at home too.

Large Capacity

This model is capable of handling up to a 22 pound turkey, large roasts, hams and whole chickens. Also, because of the versatility in design, baking cakes, pies, cookies or muffins is simple and faster than being done in a conventional oven. The nonporous cookwell can handle soups, chili, lasagna and other meal ideas without corrosion, staining or chipping.

What are Disadvantages of Nesco 481825PR Roaster Oven?

The drawbacks to this roaster are few. The only two issues are with the minimum temperature and the lack of being able to broil. The minimum temperature being set at 200 degrees makes slow cooking for some recipes more difficult, as there are recipes that call for a lower temperature to be used. Most similar roasters also share in the fact that they are unable to broil as a cooking method, and usually a conventional oven can handle that task.
